Fiona MacLeod is the Conservative candidate of record for Cape Breton – Canso.

​​​​​​​Fiona emigrated from Scotland to Nova Scotia in 1968. Graduated from St. Francis Xavier University. For over 30 years, Fiona worked in Ottawa within Canada’s federal​​​​​​​ departments, House of Commons and Senate of Canada, learning the inner workings of how government works.

In Ottawa, she met and married Murdock MacLeod. They have been married for 30 years and have two children: Megan (26) and Lauchlin (24). Murdock’s family is strongly committed to the riding of Cape Breton-Canso, operating tourism businesses in Inverness County for over 50 years as owners of the MacLeod’s Beach and Campsite, Inverness Beach Village and MacLeod’s Inn.

Her own love and commitment to community comes from her father, Alastair MacLeod, who provided dental services in Glace Bay, Arichat and concurrently in Sydney (Mayflower Mall) for over 35 years. For close to a decade, he led the Citizen’s Liaison Committee of the Sydney Tar Ponds Cleanup. 

Currently, Fiona is supporting Cape Breton Canso in a volunteer capacity.  She is a Board member of L’Arche Cape Breton and the Glace Bay Hospital Foundation.

​​​​​​​As the Conservative Candidate for Cape Breton-Canso, Fiona is focused on securing jobs, securing the economy, and securing the future for the hard-working families of Cape Breton-Canso.
